Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions, we have answers! This month on the blog we are answering some of our most frequently asked questions. Have any more questions? You can get in touch on our Contact Page. You can also read the full FAQ page here.
Are the colors painted on?
No, the colors are dyed polyurethane inlaid into wood; they go all the way through. The blanks are cured under pressure causing the liquid polyurethane to seep into the pores of the wood, which creates the feathering effect on woods with an open grain such as White Ash. You can learn more about the process here.
I don’t know my ring size, can you help?
Yes! Please email ljaklitsch@gmail for assistance. We can send you a free ring sizer in the mail to determine your size.
Will the colors fade?
Laura Jaklitsch Jewelry uses UV resistant dyes to prevent fading. Wearing your jewelry in the sun is fine (and encouraged!) however to protect the wood, do not store your jewelry in direct sunlight for extended periods of time (i.e. a sunny window).
Can I get the piece wet?
Laura Jaklitsch Jewelry pieces are sealed with a museum quality microcrystalline wax, so water will bead up on the surface and can simply be wiped away. Swimming, showering, or otherwise submerging your jewelry in water is not recommended. You can also send your jewelry to the studio for a fresh coat of wax if needed.
